What Jamian didn’t know at 15 was that he not only had an eye for fashion, but that he also had a fascination with people, places and art. Jamian enjoyed, with a genuine curiosity and respect, getting to know people’s story and then making style suggestions based on their way of life. Within months, Jamian became the top salesperson at Urban Hype at the age of 16. He also began working at Soho Shoes, in Durham, North Carolina, making style suggestions to women and men of all ages. Jamian felt he had found his joy.
However, as is sometimes the case in life, Jamian’s parents were not keen on his path to fashion. Instead, they encouraged him to further his pursuit in technology and engineering, which they perceived as a catalyst to greater fulfillment in life as a Black man in America.
Jamian thus shifted his focus to technology and engineering, parlaying his knack for sales with his analytical and problem-solving mind, ultimately leveraging his aesthetic as an outlet for expression. Except, as is often the case with the true desires, he still found ways to infuse style into the corporate world – taking risks with tailored suiting, shirts, shoes or prints amongst the traditional corporate uniform.
After nearly a decade, Jamian recognized the importance of art and fashion in his life. He returned to style in style, through the introduction of J.Carlyle and lifestyle consulting company J. Carlyle & Associates, LLC, based in New York City (NYC).
J.Carlyle is more than a brand. We are inspired to provoke awareness through design for social good and consciousness to the despairing constructs of our global society. J.Carlyle and J. Carlyle & Associates, LLC is a lifestyle consulting company, focused on individuals, social awareness and organizations, matching identity [brand] with style.
